The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has officially granted Governor Bassey Otu and his deputy, Peter Odey, automatic tickets to run for re-election in the 2027 general elections. This decision was announced by the state party chairman, Alphonsus Eba, during a meeting held at the APC Secretariat in Calabar on March 31, 2025.

Chairman Eba emphasized that this resolution reflects the party's commitment to continuity, stating, "Nobody changes a winning team. The governor and his deputy will fly the party’s flag in 2027." He further noted that even if Governor Otu were hesitant to pursue a second term, the party would still present him as their sole candidate, appealing to him to heed the desires of party members and accept the nomination.

While Governor Otu and Deputy Governor Odey have been assured of their positions as the party's flag bearers in the upcoming election, Chairman Eba clarified that no other party members have been granted automatic tickets. He encouraged other aspirants to begin their consultations and seek support from their constituents, underscoring the importance of grassroots engagement.

This strategic move by the APC underscores the party's confidence in the current administration's performance and aims to consolidate its position in Cross River State ahead of the 2027 elections.
