Former presidential aide and political commentator Reno Omokri has publicly declared his intention to dismantle the "Obidient" movement, which supports Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 election. Omokri asserts that his decision stems from personal experiences and a perceived betrayal by Obi.

Omokri: "Obi Was My Project, I Will Dismantle His Movemen

In a recent interview, Omokri stated, "I took a vow to destroy that movement because Peter Obi was a project of mine." He elaborated on his instrumental role in Obi's political ascent, particularly in facilitating his selection as Atiku Abubakar's running mate during the 2019 presidential election. Omokri emphasized, "I was responsible for Peter Obi becoming the running mate to Waziri Atiku Abubakar in 2019. I've got the documents. I'm a meticulous record keeper."

Omokri's discontent intensified due to the conduct of Obi's supporters, known as the Obidient movement. He recounted instances where he and his family were subjected to threats and harassment, including being trailed during personal activities. Despite reaching out to Obi for intervention, Omokri claims that Obi refused to denounce the individuals involved, leading him to resolve to dismantle the movement using his political influence.

This development highlights the escalating tensions within Nigeria's political landscape, particularly among former allies. Omokri's vow underscores the complexities and challenges inherent in political affiliations and movements in the country.
