Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, Champion of his people’s Interest Delivers on Campaign Promises: Four Crucial Bills Pass Second reading.

Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the representative for Ideato North and Ideato South Federal Constituency has made significant strides in fulfilling his campaign promises. Four crucial bills sponsored by him have successfully passed the second reading in the House of Representatives. Recall that during the campaign, he promised to present a bill for the control of state resources, and today, the bill has just crossed second reading in the house of Representative. The Rsources Control bill seeks to amend  the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 to give state governments access to mines and minerals , including oil fields , oil mining , geological surveys and natural gas. This will mean that the states will now have control over their resources. 



It is also interesting to recall, during the campaigns, Hon Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere  promised the traditional rulers across ideato North and South that he was going to get them constitutional recognition and funding. This is also a fulfilled campaign promise, as the Hon Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere’s Bill for Recognition of Traditional Rulers and creation of constitutional Roles for them  in the Constitution passes 2nd Reading in the green chamber. This bill seeks to amend the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 to make provision for the recognition of the advisory role of traditional rulers in the constitution and enhance governance by incorporating into our decision making process the rich cultural knowledge of traditional rulers. 


Another Interesting bill sponsored by Hon Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere which has remained in the mouth of people within and outside ideato Nation for the good reasons is the bill for the creation of Orlu state. This bill seeks to alter the provisions of the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 ( as amended) to create a new state in the south eastern region. The creation of a new state , Orlu will herald a new era of economic empowerment and socio - political progress for the people of Imo state. 


Finally, The bill to transfer federal Roads to the state government. This bill seeks to move construction of roads other than trunk A federal roads to concurrent legislative list to allow state government and private sectors more power to fund road rehabilitation and reconstruction. 


These people oriented bills demonstrate Ikenga’s commitment to his constituents and his determination to drive legislative change. His efforts have been met with enthusiasm, and his constituents are eagerly awaiting the passage of these bills into law. 


Ikenga’s dedication to his campaign promise has earned him the recognition as the champion of his people’s interest, and hence the clamor for him to continue till 2031.
