Constituents of Edo South Senatorial District, alongside members of the Human Rights Community, have initiated a recall process against Senator Neda Imasuen, citing allegations of corruption, misuse of office, and betrayal of public trust.

During a press briefing in Benin, representatives from five out of the seven local governments expressed dissatisfaction with the Labour Party senator's performance, accusing him of failing to deliver constituency projects and neglecting the needs of his constituents.

The group also highlighted concerns regarding Imasuen's alleged disbarment by the New York State Supreme Court in 2010, calling for his prosecution and urging international cooperation for a thorough investigation.

In response, Senator Imasuen dismissed the allegations as politically motivated, suggesting that the individuals behind the recall effort were being funded to undermine him.

This development follows the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions' recommendation for a six-month suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The constituents have issued a 14-day notice to the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Nigerian Senate, and anti-corruption agencies, urging prompt action on their petition.

These events underscore the growing demand for accountability and transparency within Nigeria's political landscape, as constituents actively seek to hold their representatives responsible for their action.
