In a move aimed at improving the financial well-being of civil servants, the federal government has given the green light to a substantial salary increase across various consolidated salary structures.

This decision, unveiled on the eve of the Workers’ Day celebration, was revealed in an official statement issued by Emmanuel Njoku, head of press at the national salaries, incomes, and wages commission (NSIWC).

Effective from January 1, 2024, the approved salary increments range between 25 percent and 35 percent, providing a significant uplift for employees.

The announcement is expected to bring relief to many workers grappling with the rising cost of living and economic challenges.

The salary augmentation encompasses six consolidated salary structures, namely the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure, Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure, Consolidated Police Salary Structure, Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure, Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure, and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure.

This move underscores the government's commitment to enhancing the welfare of its workforce and fostering greater economic stability.
