Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District, has clarified the recent decision to retain Umar Damagum as the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Amidst speculation suggesting political implications for key figures like Nyesom Wike and Atiku Abubakar, Senator Moro emphasized that the decision was not a matter of individual victory or defeat but a collective choice made by party stakeholders to advance the party's agenda.

Addressing concerns that the decision favored certain individuals over others, Senator Moro underscored the diverse perspectives within the PDP and urged against oversimplifying the party's actions.

He stressed the importance of focusing on strengthening the PDP as a viable alternative for Nigerians amidst ongoing challenges.

Regarding the presence of Nyesom Wike in party meetings despite allegations of antiparty activities, Senator Moro clarified that party rules dictate that individuals can only be excluded from meetings if they have been found guilty of such activities and sanctioned by the party's disciplinary committee.

Looking ahead, Senator Moro outlined the party's succession plan, stating that the next NEC meeting would adhere to the constitutional provisions to appoint a replacement for the vacant position of National Chairman, following Senator Iyorchia Ayu's withdrawal of his court case.

He emphasized the importance of approaching the meeting with an open mind to ensure adherence to the party's constitutional framework.
