In a dramatic turn of events along the Talata Mafara-Gusau highway in Zamfara State, the family of a bride-to-be and a group of passengers thwarted a kidnapping attempt, resulting in the death of one bandit.
The family, en route to purchase wedding materials in Kano, found themselves in the midst of danger when armed bandits ambushed their convoy.
According to an eyewitness account, the bandits stopped vehicles at gunpoint, selecting the bride-to-be, her family, and other travellers for abduction.
However, in a courageous act of resistance, the passengers launched a spontaneous counterattack, overpowering one of the bandits and causing his immediate demise.
Despite the brave intervention, one passenger succumbed to a sudden heart attack induced by the harrowing ordeal.
The group, undeterred by tragedy, retrieved two AK-47 rifles abandoned by the fleeing bandit and promptly surrendered them to military authorities at a nearby checkpoint.
This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by civilians in Zamfara State and the resilience of ordinary citizens in the face of adversity.
