In a bid to uphold accountability and efficiency, the local government initiates a comprehensive attendance monitoring system, as officials witness an improved turnout of workers during a recent visit.
Addressing the assembled staff, Prof. Okanya emphasized the importance of regular attendance to honor Governor Mbah's initiatives, including the implementation of minimum wage and the forthcoming pension payments for retired local government employees.
He underscored the three-month duration of the monitoring exercise, warning of dismissal for employees absent on three consecutive occasions. Additionally, he clarified that only present staff members would receive their salary and benefits.
Complementing Prof. Okanya's remarks, Comrade Udeagha Ani, the NULGE state President, expressed disappointment in the current attendance levels, urging workers to demonstrate appreciation for the government's commitment to their welfare by fulfilling their duties diligently.
The monitoring team, comprising esteemed officials including Hon. Peter Nnaji, Hon. Mrs Florence Igboji, Hon. Eugene Odoh, Mr Charles Mbah, Mr Obinna Madu, and other statutory officers, will continue their oversight efforts, although specific local government councils slated for inspection remain undisclosed.
