A devastating incident has shaken the community of Minna, Niger State, as five children tragically lost their lives due to suffocation inside an abandoned car. The heart-wrenching event unfolded in the Gurara area of Albishiri, leaving residents in shock and mourning.
According to reports gathered by Vanguard, the distressing incident occurred on Sunday, sending shockwaves through the neighborhood. The five children, reportedly playing in the vicinity, entered the abandoned Honda Civic Accord with the number plate GO 778 BC, which had been stationary for nearly three years.
As the day progressed, concern grew as the children failed to return home. Parents and neighbors initiated a frantic search, spanning over five hours. It wasn't until around 4 p.m. that the devastating discovery was made: the lifeless bodies of the children were found inside the abandoned vehicle.
Muhammed, a resident of the area, expressed profound sorrow over the incident, highlighting that three of the deceased children were siblings. The tragic loss of young lives has left the community reeling with grief.
Aminu Ladan, Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Area, described the incident as "very painful but an act of God," offering condolences to the bereaved families. The remains of the children have been recovered and handed over to their grieving parents for burial.
State Police Command spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the tragic occurrence, indicating that investigations are underway. The owner of the vehicle has been summoned for questioning as authorities seek to understand the circumstances surrounding the heartbreaking incident.
