In a recent development at the Federal High Court in the federal capital territory, Abuja, Justice Emeka Nwite has overturned the court's previous order for the arrest of Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison, who serves as the chief of staff to the Rivers State Governor.

This decision comes after the court had issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Ehie and five others in response to an ex-parte application by the Inspector General of Police.

The initial order was based on allegations of their involvement in the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly during the political crisis in October 2023.

However, in today's judgment, Justice Nwite declared that he had been misled by the police and consequently set aside the arrest order against Ehie Edison and Chibuike O Peter, among others.

Defense counsel, including Femi Falana (SAN) and Oluwole Aladedoye, had argued against the arrest warrant, citing lack of evidence of terrorism and procedural irregularities in the application by the police.

This decision marks a significant turn in the legal proceedings surrounding the case.
