The Commissioner for Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Diaspora Affairs in Edo State, Mrs. Uyi Oduwa-Malaka, faced a setback as she was stripped of her honorary chieftaincy title, the Uzoyare of Ozalla.
This title, bestowed upon her by the Onotare of Ozalla Kingdom in Owan West Local Government, King Nathaniel Igelugbo Omogbai, was revoked following allegations of misconduct and disrespect toward the monarch.
The incident in question occurred when Oduwa-Malaka reportedly requested the king to meet her in her car upon her arrival at the palace on April 12th.
In response to this perceived act of disrespect, the traditional ruler, through a statement issued by the palace’s spokesman, Dr. Osumah Obaze, announced the revocation of Oduwa-Malaka's chieftaincy title.
This decision was intended to serve as a deterrent to others who might contemplate similar actions that could tarnish the revered throne.
Additionally, another individual, George Ohioma, a lawyer, also had his title, Ozemevboya of Ozalla, revoked by the monarch.
