In a statement released on Saturday, Obi Aguocha, the House of Representatives member for Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South Federal Constituency of Abia state, urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene and secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Aguocha emphasized that Kanu's release would demonstrate a commitment to peace and progress in the South East region and the welfare of the Igbo people.
He questioned why Kanu, as a Nigerian citizen, has not been granted bail like others facing allegations and highlighted the judiciary's role in safeguarding citizens' rights.
Aguocha raised concerns about potential disparities in treatment based on ethnicity within the Nigerian legal system.
