I use this medium to express my sincere appreciation and commendation for the swift and decisive action taken by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in response to the recent incident of discrimination against a passenger with disabilities at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.

The prompt closure of the KFC outlet following reports of discrimination against Mr. Debola Daniel, a passenger with disabilities, demonstrates FAAN's unwavering commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of all airport users. Discrimination of any form has no place in our society, and FAAN's proactive response sends a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated within our airport facilities.
Therefore, by swiftly closing the KFC outlet and launching an investigation into the incident, FAAN has not only taken a stand against discrimination but also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all passengers, regardless of their abilities, are treated with respect, dignity, and equal access to services.

As a concerned citizen and advocate for disability rights, I stand in solidarity with FAAN in condemning discrimination and in promoting a culture of diversity, inclusion, and equality within our aviation sector.

I look forward to the outcome of the investigation and to continued collaboration in ensuring that our airports and other public spaces remain places where everyone feels valued, respected, and welcomed.

I also call on government at all levels to prioritize the full implementation of the Disability Act and other relevant policies and programs aimed at promoting the rights and well-being of PWD. It is imperative that government institutions, agencies, and service providers take proactive measures to eliminate barriers to accessibility, provide reasonable accommodations, and ensure equal opportunities for PWD in all spheres of life.

I reaffirm my commitment to advocating for the rights of PWD and I encourage all stakeholders to redouble their efforts in addressing discrimination and promoting the full inclusion and empowerment of PWD in Nigeria.

Together, let us strive to build a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
