Legal Battle Ensues as Mohbad's Father Seeks DNA Test to Determine Paternity of Alleged Son
In a dramatic turn of events, Joseph Aloba, the father of the late pop singer Ilerioluwa Promise Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has initiated legal proceedings to ascertain the paternity of a child named Master Liam Aloba. Confirming the development, Monisola Odumosu, a member of the family's legal team, assured that all necessary preparations had been made to ensure the success of the case.
The family's application for a DNA test has been formally filed at the Family Court of the Ikorodu Magistrate Court under the case number MKD/31/FAM/2024, titled Joseph Aloba v Cynthia Omowunmi Aloba. The application seeks a court order for a DNA test to be conducted on Master Liam Aloba, believed to be the son of the late Mohbad, to determine his biological father. The test is to be carried out at a recognized and accredited medical facility within Lagos State, Nigeria, at the expense of the applicant.
Furthermore, the family requests an order compelling Mrs. Omowunmi Aloba, Mohbad's widow, to present herself and Master Liam Aloba for the DNA testing. Despite efforts to serve the court process on Mohbad's wife at her Lekki residence on Friday, March 8, these attempts were reportedly unsuccessful.
The legal team is now exploring alternative methods to ensure that all court processes are properly served and that the case proceeds smoothly. Mohbad's untimely death at the age of 27 in September 2023 has sparked controversy on social media, with this latest legal development adding further intrigue to the already tumultuous situation surrounding the late pop singer's legacy.
