In a recent development, the Imo State Police Command has made significant strides in their efforts to bolster security ahead of the Easter celebrations. Through proactive measures, the command successfully apprehended two notorious suspects, including a prominent kidnapper kingpin and a dangerous cultist, both long sought after for their involvement in various criminal activities across the state.

According to a press release issued by the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Okoye Henry, the apprehension of the suspects was a result of meticulous planning and execution by dedicated operatives of the command.

The suspected serial kidnapper, Richard Ebony, alias "Linking," was captured in his hideout in Agbala, Owerri North LGA, following intensive surveillance and intelligence gathering by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (Tiger Base) of the command. During the arrest, authorities seized an automatic pump-action gun along with ammunition from the suspect. Ebony, during interrogation, confessed to orchestrating numerous kidnapping incidents in the state, including high-profile cases involving prominent individuals.

In a separate operation, Chukwuemeka Peter Ekechi, suspected of being a member of the Black Axe Confraternity, was apprehended by operatives of Nekede Divisional Headquarters Crack Squad Unit, with assistance from local vigilantes. Ekechi's arrest underscores the command's commitment to tackling violent crimes and dismantling criminal networks operating within the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, emphasized the command's dedication to upholding professionalism and ensuring the safety and security of all residents, particularly during the Easter season. He urged the public to remain vigilant and collaborate with law enforcement agencies to combat crime effectively.

CP Danjuma reiterated the command's adherence to core values of transparency, respect for human rights, and maintaining law and order while providing maximum protection for the people of Imo State. The suspects are currently in police custody, pending further investigation and prosecution.
