On March 27th, 2024, the Imo State College of Nursing Sciences witnessed a momentous occasion as it hosted its inaugural Convocation alongside its illustrious 10th Matriculation ceremony. The day unfolded on the picturesque grounds of Orlu, Imo State, marked by a grand procession featuring academic staff, students, proud parents, and distinguished guests.
Provost Mrs. Offor Hannah took the stage in her opening address, highlighting the college's milestone achievements, including the accreditation of two departments of midwifery and attributing success to the support of Senator Hope Uzodimma's administration. She reiterated the institution's commitment to academic excellence, preparing students for diverse healthcare roles.
Addressing challenges, Mrs. Offor called for support in constructing essential infrastructure, including an ICT center, a soundproof generator, an auditorium, and serviceable vehicles. She appealed to guests to champion the institution's growth.
Chairman of the occasion, Professor Ukachukwu Awuzie, praised the event as a significant milestone and urged students to uphold the institution's reputation. Barrister Chinyere Ibe, representing the Governor, reiterated the government's commitment to education.
The guest lecturer, Rev. Dr. Lauretta Madu, emphasized the need for nurses to excel in the evolving healthcare landscape, enhancing global standards. Notable dignitaries in attendance included representative Honorable High Chief Canice Moore Chukwugozie Nwachukwu, Evang. Magnus Nnadi, Barrister Ikenna Ihezuo, and Acting Registrar Mr. Kennedy Duru, among others, lending prestige to the occasion.
