Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has refuted claims of borrowing N144 billion, clarifying that the state government had not drawn any loans despite approvals received. In a media parley in Umuahia, Governor Otti disclosed that while loan offers were received from various banks, including a $125 million facility from the Islamic Development Bank, no funds had been withdrawn.

He emphasized the state's cautious approach to borrowing, stating that loans would only be utilized when necessary. Regarding the backlog of pension and salary arrears, Governor Otti reaffirmed his commitment to resolve the issue by the end of March, attributing the delay to meticulous preparations due to the substantial financial implications involved.

Furthermore, he assured prompt resolution of salary payment omissions and reiterated his administration's focus on enhancing workers' welfare. Governor Otti also addressed concerns over sanitation and flooding, outlining measures to mitigate these challenges and improve agricultural productivity in the state. Additionally, he pledged efforts to digitize the state library and promote a reading culture among the populace.
