THAT REP NWACHUKWU'S MOTION ON REHABILITATION OF ORLU-IHIALA ROAD

On the floor of the House of Representatives of the 10th National Assembly, precisely on Tuesday, 27th of February 2024, the need to rehabilitate, reconstruct and repair the Orlu - Ihiala Federal Road was brought to the national burner.

The member representing the good people of Orlu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Canice-Moore Nwachukwu (Omeogo), via a motion, called on the Federal Government through the National Assembly, to urgently fix that particular road which has remained under deplorable conditions over the years.

That road; a Trunk "A" road, actually does not only link Ihiala in Anambra state with Orlu in Imo state, but also connects Umuahia in Abia, and other popular towns in Akwa Ibom states.

This Orlu-Ihiala-Umuahia road has been long abandoned by successive governments in such a manner that its now pitiful and lame State, has not only contributed to the loss of economic activities on it at the Imo axis, but also, major cause of the incredible insecurity situations in the area.

For example, motorists no longer ply on the popular economic towns of Ihioma, Amannachi, Awo-Idemmili and Iseke because these areas, have been so wretched and deserted, hence giving room for their appropriation by hoodlums and bandits.

When at the floor of the Green Chambers therefore it was moved by Rep Nwachukwu that the road be rehabilitated, and adopted by the floor, the joy and happiness that followed the motion in the hearts of our people were immeasurable.

Rep Nwachukwu who is just less than one year in office at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly has shown that he clearly understands the desires of his people, which of cause are not too much, and hears their heart beats.

It goes therefore, to show that his being sent to the National Assembly is not after all, a mistake, at least for now.

Imagine that road being rehabilitated with complete furniture from Ihiala through Orlu and to Umuahia. Imagine the ecstatics of that road's repairs and connection to the Banana Junction linking the already rehabilitated Orlu-Owerri. Imagine the return of wonders to Orlu main town, Ihiala main town and other towns therein.

To achieve these, this motion does not only need its already sponsorship at the floor of the Green Chambers which most people often refer as rhetorics. This motion requires a high level inputs and push from strategic stakeholders, such as our dear brother and son, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma.

This motion requires the legislative ingenuity and extra presentation at the floor of the Red Chambers by our son and brother, Sen. Osita Izunaso.

This motion also requires the contacts of the former member who represented the same Federal Constituency and doubled as the former Chairman of the House Committee on FERMA, Hon. Asiwaju Jerry Alagbaoso. It's on records that last remedial repairs on that road was actually during his stay at the House, and a permanent reconstruction which is now being championed by Rep Nwachukwu (Omeogo) needs his garnishing experiences and feed ins.

Constituents of the ORLU/ORSU/ORU-EAST Federal Constituency would be seeking nothing more than Rep. Nwachukwu (Omeogo, Ogbaturuehi) can offer in this regards, other than having this road captured for rehabilitation as moved in the very nearest and shortest future.

During an interactive session around July 2023 at the Orlu LGA Secretariat, I had the rear privilege of sending an SOS to the Executive Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, Sen. Osita Izunaso and Rep Omeogo, through the Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Amara Chyna-Iwuanyanwu on the urgent need to fix that major road, along side the Old Owerri Road, and the Afor Ogidi-Mgbidi Roads.

These roads, among others, it was, and still remains my opinion, will certainly return that area to its old glory and cause about the reactivation of vibrant economic activities and improved security engagements within the Federal Constituency.

Appreciation brings about more good works (_E kelee Onye Gwóró Akídí, Ya Agwóta Ózó_), they say, so, this is sending our heart felt appreciation to Hon. Canice-Moore Nwachukwu, our Representative at the House of Representatives, while through him, extending same once again, to the Imo Governor Hope Uzodinma for the Owerri-Orlu road beautifully rehabilitated during his first term in office.

The mouth that eats is already committed, hence _Ónú N'eri Eri, A Dígoo Commited_. So, like the Oliver Twist, Orlu/Orsu/Oru-East Federal Constituency; the Constituency of our dear Governor, needs some more roads and infrastructures. It is now time to come home. It is time to do more.
