"Femi Falana Urges President Tinubu to Convene Meeting with Nigeria Police amid Rising Insecurity"

Renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana has called upon President Bola Tinubu to organize a crucial meeting with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to address and tackle the escalating insecurity issues plaguing the nation. Falana made this appeal during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday.

In his statement, Falana emphasized the importance of President Tinubu taking proactive measures by convening a meeting with the NPF. He underscored the urgency of collaborative efforts to devise effective strategies for combating the prevailing security challenges.

Meanwhile, as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Falana dismissed calls for the creation of state police, deeming such proposals as diversionary. He expressed concerns that the establishment of state police forces might be prone to misuse, potentially becoming tools for political conflicts if implemented. Falana's stance reflects a cautious approach to reforms in the security sector, emphasizing the need for comprehensive and well-thought-out solutions to address the complex security landscape in the country.
